Love In The Right Place

“For Valentine’s Day”

Give me your hand. I want to hold your hand. It will tell me how deeply I love you. This abyss, depth of love I have for you is a combination of love and hate. You know, like we hug and kiss and in the next minute we are throwing hatchets at each other. Why is that? Well, I can only speak for myself. You occupy a space where I beg to be. Therefore, when we disagree, fear strikes me that I will never get into that space. Does it you?

Well, listen, I have to take my Prius to Toyota. This is the third time it has been recalled in the past 3 years. A bit annoying, so I hope you don’t use that against me next time.

Take care. And hey, I love you.

Love

-I Just Wanted to Tell You That I Loved You

You know, there was this special little place where I hid.
It had doors and windows and the smell of lavender.
The smell always brought me to you.
You know, you, the woman I love.
How can I feel anything else but love for you?
How?
That’s why I hid in this special little place.
To hide my love for you.
Then, I told you I loved you.
I told you I wanted to hold you in my arms.
I told you I wanted to feel your warmth next to me.
I told you I wanted to stroke your hair and kiss your lips.
I told you I wanted to be with you.
I know that’s heavy stuff, but I had to tell you.
I see now that you have your own hiding place
and
it has nothing to do with me.

Screenwriting Tip

Always keep in mind that when writing a screenplay, you want to limit the use of words as much as possible. Strive to have more white on the page than black. Film is a visual medium, so one must visually write. The key to writing visually and limiting your word production is to focus on verbs. Strive to use active verbs and sentences as much as possible. This approach helps to limit words.

You also want to make your screenplays as easy as possible to read. Producers and others who read scripts as part of their job always have stacks of scripts to read. They want to read each script very rapidly so that they can get to the next script. So, limit your written words as much as possible. Also, by focusing on limiting your written words as much as possible, you will sharpen your writing skills, which is also vital if you are to continue your upward movement as a screenplay writer.

Have a great day, or great night!
